The Triumph of Love cast includes talented USM Musical Theatre majors from Maine and Massachusetts. Pictured here: Jeremiah Haley as Agis (kneeling); in back Kelly Mosher as Hesione; (front) Rylee Doiron as Princess Leonide, and Kyle Dennis as Hermocrates.

Princess Leonide has fallen in love with a young man, who turns out to be a hidden prince, Agis. Agis, however, has been raised by his scholarly uncle, Hermocrates and his maiden aunt, Hesione to abjure all feelings so he can assassinate the Princess and regain the throne! Undaunted, Leonide hatches a plan to win his love by disguising herself as a devoted male student of his uncle. Vowing that she will “Do anything for his Love,” Leonide proceeds to assail this stoic trio, aided by her chambermaid, the soubrette Corine and two zany commedia dell’arte servants, Harlequin and Dimas. By the end of Act I, all three noble denizens of the garden retreat love Leonide (in her different guises), and Corine is doing her best to “handle” both servants. But the garden is too small for this ruse to go on for long. Can Love and Wit triumph over War and Reason?
