The University of Southern Maine Department of Theatre and the School of Music are pleased to present Die Fledermaus, an operetta by Johann Strauss Jr., directed by Assunta Kent, with
Robert Lehmann conducting the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra, and musical direction
by Ellen Chickering - March 8-16, 2013.
Die Fledermaus is presented in
English, and the sponsor for these performances is Down East Magazine.
A ball at a royal palace, a husband hoping for a fling, and a
case of mistaken identity. Stir these ingredients into a crystal glass of champagne
and you have the comic operetta that has delighted audiences for over a hundred
years. Gorgeous costumes, lush scenery and magnificent music make this a
not-to-be-missed theatrical event!
